11th July 2022 – I have received the telephone call that we have been waiting for.
The latest scan and bloods still show no evidence of any disease, and as I have been cancer free for 5 years, the hospital is signing me off, back to my GP.
We are over the moon.
Travel insurance will be available and without a hefty premium – hurrah.
Great Friends
Our beloved friends in Hampshire and Wiltshire dropped everything that day and drove up to join us for dinner and champagne in celebration and on a school night!
The Statistics
I am lucky. However, the number of cancer cases are rising. I remember years ago when the stats were 1 in 4. When I was having my treatment in 2016, it was 1 in 3. Now it’s 1 in 2!
Cancer Research
This is why PICC-Me donates monthly to Cancer Research UK, as I have done personally for over 30 years after the leaflet first popped through my letterbox. This research has saved my mother and now me. Not to mention all the hundreds of thousands of others who are either now cancer free or been given more time.
And Finally..
To all of you who are going through this right now, we understand and wish you all the very best for the future. I hope my story helps you in your personal battle with this hateful disease to find some strength and comfort, knowing that you are not alone.
