PICC Line Covers – Quick Question Guide

About our sleeves

A PICC line cover, or sleeve, is a stretch fabric tube, hemmed at the top and bottom, that is gently pulled over the sterile dressing on a PICC line. It hides the insertion point and ports. PICC-Me® sleeves come in stretch fabric or lace and a range of colours and designs, from £8.95.

PICC-Me Ltd, based in Woking, Surrey, designs and makes every PICC-Me® sleeve and accessory in the UK.

PICC-Me® stretch and lace sleeves are made from a blend of polyester or nylon with elastane to give the fabric stretch. The exact fabric mix is listed on each product page.

No. All PICC-Me® sleeves and accessories are classed as clothing accessories. They have no therapeutic effect and do not provide compression. PICC-Me® recommends wearing them over any covering or protection provided by your healthcare professional.

No. Each sleeve is sold individually, because a PICC line is normally inserted in one arm only.

Yes. PICC-Me® sleeves can be worn over glucose sensors such as the FreeStyle Libre. You can scan the sensor through the fabric without taking the sleeve off.

No. Licensed characters and club logos are protected by strict copyright and printed transfers do not hold up well on stretch fabric, so PICC-Me® does not supply them.

As well as sleeves, PICC-Me® designs and makes accessories for PICC line patients such as chemo pump bag sets (from £15.95) and thermal neck warmer snoods (£12.95), all designed and made in the UK. Click here.

Fit, Wear & Care

Use the PICC-Me® sleeve size guide at picc-me.co.uk/wear-guide/size-guide/. A sleeve should feel snug and comfortable without being tight or restrictive. If you are unsure about the correct fit, ask your doctor, ward or community nurse for advice.

The clear, sterile PICC dressing can be glossy, which makes a sleeve slip. Try wearing the sleeve over the tubular stretch covering supplied by your nurse. If it still slips regularly, you may need a smaller size.

A sleeve that rolls over at the top edge is usually too small. The usual fix is to order one size larger.

No. Remove your sleeve before showering, bathing and sleeping. Washing and care instructions come on a card with every sleeve and are also on the Wear and Care Guide at picc-me.co.uk/wear-guide/.
